HISTORY

In 1965 local merchants joined to form the Deer Lake Chamber of Commerce. However, it wasn’t until December 1982 that the Chamber was federally incorporated and provincially incorporated on November 20, 1990. Since that time, the Chamber has dealt with many social and economic issues that have arisen over the years which have had a positive impact on the businesses in the area.

WHAT IS A CHAMBER?

The Chamber of Commerce is a non-profit organization made up of businesses, professionals, community groups and interested individuals. The Chamber acts as a unified voice for business, enabling its membership to accomplish collectively what no one person can easily do individually.

HOW DOES THE CHAMBER WORK?

Elected by the membership, the Executive Committee establishes the goals and objectives for the year and works with the members and Chamber Coordinator to accomplish these goals.

WHAT DOES THE CHAMBER DO?

The Chamber is a vehicle for action through which business can work together for the overall good of the communities we serve. The Chamber is involved at all levels of government and your support means that the Chamber can lobby municipal, provincial and federal governments. We seek solutions to today’s social and economic problems and then we work towards the implementation of these solutions.
