Humber Valley Fall Fair

The Humber Valley Agricultural Home and Handicrafts Exhibition (HVAHHE) committee would like to thank all the sponsors, exhibitors, participants, volunteers and attendees for making this year’s fair a great success! The 46th Annual Fair was held in Deer Lake on September 20-21, 2013. With over 30 exhibitors, over 70 animals in the dairy competition and over 3000 attendees, the fair was our largest ever.

Along with the dairy competition, the fair included a bubble gum blowing contest, a scarecrow contest, an agricultural spelling bee, a Lego building contest, a sunflower contest, a petting farm and a vegetable and preserves competition. Several bakers donated a pie for our inaugural pie auction which raised $263.00 for the local food bank. Exhibitors displayed or sold agricultural and/or home handicrafts for the visiting public. A portable sawmill was on display outside the fair and members of the milk and egg producers boards were on hand to promote their respective industries. Over 500 children from the region participated in school tours on Friday.

The HVAHHE is the longest running agricultural fair in the region and brings visitors and exhibitors from near and far. The fair committee in conjunction with The Grand Lake Centre for Economic Development are currently attempting to secure land and establish a permanent fairground in the region.

Book next year’s date in your calendar – September 12-13, 2014. We hope to see you there!
